Tennessee Century Farms

The Stewart Century Farm in Meigs County was purchased by John and Lettie Tillory Stewart in 1825. In addition to farming, the Stewarts operated a commercial distillery and Stewart s Landing on the Tennessee River. It also served as a community center for the county s citizens.

James Jones Kelly purchased 320 acres in Bledsoe County and established the Kelly Farm. Serving for many years as both a homestead and a rural community center, the Kelly farm grew to almost 1000 acres.

Tennessee State University

The Otis L. Floyd-Joseph A. Payne Campus Center at Tennessee State University was completed in 1992 and named in honor of two men who contributed to the university s increased recognition. The late Otis L. Floyd served as the 5th president of TSU and Joseph A. Payne was TSU s dean of students from 1958 until 1972.
